Design Your Life | July 2011

I want to thank Jess with Jess LC and Make Under My Life for providing the inspiration of Design Your Life. I happened to stumble upon her blog weeks ago and now I’m hooked. Design Your Life is a once a month series that encourages you to share 5-7 intentions for your life with specific examples of how you “Design Your Life” around these intentions. With Jess’s permission, I’m taking a slightly different approach to this opportunity. Instead of sharing 5-7 intentions once a month I’m going to just share one each month. I know that I’ll have a higher success rate by focusing on one area verses several at once. So check back every month to check out my new action item and see the results of how the previous month’s intention was achieved. Please feel free to make comments below and share with me! ~Jess

[tweetmeme]My second intent: Be an asset

A few months ago, I met two wonderful women who operate a photography business here in San Diego, Joielala Photographie. They were so down to earth and open with me, not only about their photography business, but about their life style. I’m not meaning there daily routine, but how they generally live their lives with style, helping others, growing, learning and how they try to be inspired by everything and everyone. One thing they said that has stuck to me like a tattoo, is that it’s more important to create allies than competition.

We are all in this together and should help each other out as much as we can. We only get better from each other. So much of our education comes from another person and their experiences. They have inspired me more than they probably know, not just as a photographer, but as woman who wants to share the wealth of knowledge with anyone who asks.

I absolutely adore this piece of advice and how you’ve turned it into an intention! I’m also tucking it away in my own pocket to think about myself :).
